What is Soft Tissue Therapy?

Soft tissue therapy involves the assessment, treatment and management of the soft tissues of the body – muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (the body’s connective tissue webbing). A range of manual, hands-on techniques, including deep tissue massage and established osteopathic techniques, are used to manipulate, release and soften the soft tissues of the body, working from superficial into deeper layers.

Soft tissue therapy is a safe and effective hands-on therapy that can treat a wide range of minor and chronic musculoskeletal conditions including, muscular imbalances, overuse strains, repetitive injuries, and soft tissue trauma.

Soft tissue therapy techniques include: Soft Tissue Release (STR), Muscle Energy Technique (MET), Myofascial tissue release, Neuromuscular (trigger point) Technique (NMT), Positional Release, Rigid taping and Kinesiology taping (RockTape™), as well as Exercise therapy.

How can Soft Tissue Therapy help me?

Soft tissue therapy can help bring the body’s natural structure into proper balance and alignment, assisting overall health, relief from general aches and pains, improvement in posture, and reduction in physical and mental stress. It can effectively treat and prevent re-occurring athletic and sports injuries.

Everyone can benefit from soft tissue therapy, whether you are an athlete, weekend sports person, office worker, or someone who is suffering a chronic, debilitating condition. Regular treatment can offset the wear and tear on our bodies caused by modern day living habits such as hunching over a computer or steering wheel, bending forward over mobile phones and other devices, and sitting for long periods.
