MSc BSc (Hons) MISRM
Hi I’m Clare Martin, principal practitioner at Island bodyworks.
I am a qualified Soft Tissue Therapist (clinical sports and remedial) and Foundation Training Instructor.
My early career focused on the study of Psychology, gaining a BSc in Applied Psychology and MSc in Occupational Psychology, before training and working as an Occupational Psychologist. With further qualifications in Ergonomics and Stress Management, I have spent the past two decades working in the field of injury recovery and rehabilitation. With my continuing interest in the workings of the human body and mind, and relationships between pain and recovery, movement and emotional and physical health, I studied with the London School of Soft Tissue Therapy, achieving the highest level Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy.
I am also a Certified Instructor in Foundation Training, a movement practice developed in the US by Dr Eric Goodman, chiropractor and movement expert, which complements the manual therapy I provide to my clients, helping with long term, sustained improvements in posture, back strength and stability, whilst supporting daily movement, whether it be work-based, sports-related or in the home.
The aim of our practice, Island bodyworks, is to help people move away from pain and fatigue in their daily lives and regain natural movement to offset the wear and tear of our modern lifestyles, as well as achieving improved strength and confidence in the use of their bodies so they can better perform and enjoy all of their chosen activities in life.
Putting YOU at the centre of YOUR own health is key.
I look forward to working with you to achieve your health goals!
